The threat, detailed in an email, claimed that a bomb had been placed on an airplane, causing potential risk of explosion at the facility.
In response to the alarming threat, the airport's Chief Security Officer, Vishal Kumar Sharma, filed a complaint at Gandhi Nagar police station. The police have registered a case against an unknown individual and initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sundar Singh Kanesh of Zone 4 explained the situation to ANI, stating, "The Airport Authority has lodged a complaint regarding a bomb threat email that was received, which mentioned that a bomb had been placed on a plane aimed to disrupt the peace at the airport."
Police efforts to ensure the safety of passengers and staff are ongoing, with further actions planned based on the investigation's findings. The DCP reassured the public, stating that all necessary measures are being taken to address this threat.
In a related incident, Dabolim Airport in Goa also reported receiving a bomb threat via email on the same day. The airport director, SVT Dhanamjaya Rao, commented on the situation: "We received an email this morning. We have alerted our security agencies and airlines. We are conducting additional security checks, although, as of now, there is no cause for panic and flight operations are proceeding normally."
These threats come at a time when airport security is already under tight scrutiny, and authorities remain vigilant against any potential threats to safety. Both airports have heightened security measures to ensure the safety of all travelers and personnel.
