The highly anticipated Asus ROG Ally X handheld gaming console is expected to be unveiled within the next couple of weeks. Positioned as an updated version of the first-generation ROG Ally rather than a successor, the ROG Ally X brings several much-requested hardware improvements. These enhancements promise to significantly boost the device's performance and user experience, particularly in terms of battery life and memory capacity.
Key Specifications and Enhancements
According to a report by VideoCardz, the ROG Ally X will come equipped with a substantially larger 80Whr battery, addressing one of the major complaints from users of the original console, which featured a 40Whr battery. This improvement should allow gamers to enjoy longer play sessions without needing to recharge frequently.
Another notable upgrade is in the memory department. While the first-generation ROG Ally came with 16GB of RAM, the new ROG Ally X will boast 24GB of LPDDR5 memory, operating at a higher bandwidth of 7,500MHz compared to the 6,400MHz of its predecessor. This increase in memory and bandwidth is expected to enhance the overall gaming performance of the device.
The ROG Ally X will continue to be powered by the same AMD Ryzen Z1 Ultimate APU found in the original model, and it will retain the 7-inch full-HD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring smooth and vivid visuals.
Improved Cooling and Build
Asus has also made significant improvements in the cooling system of the ROG Ally X. The new model will feature a fan that is 23 percent smaller with fins that are 50 percent thinner than those in the first-generation ROG Ally. This design change leads to a 10 percent improvement in airflow, helping to keep the device cooler during intense gaming sessions.
Design and Dimensions
With the inclusion of a larger battery, the ROG Ally X has seen a slight increase in its dimensions and weight. The device will be 36.9mm thick, which is 4.5mm thicker than the original model, and it will weigh 678g, making it 70g heavier. Despite these changes, the enhancements are expected to provide a more robust gaming experience.
Pricing and Availability
The Asus ROG Ally X is rumored to be priced at $799 (approximately Rs. 66,400). Further details, including its official release date and availability, are anticipated to be revealed at Computex 2024, which begins on June 4.
With these improvements, the Asus ROG Ally X aims to set a new standard for handheld gaming consoles, addressing user feedback and enhancing performance to meet the demands of modern gamers.
