The shocking discovery of the dismembered body of Bangladesh Member of Parliament Anwarul Azim Anar has sent ripples through both India and Bangladesh. Anar, who had been missing since May 14, two days after his arrival in Kolkata, was found to have been brutally murdered, skinned, and chopped up in an apartment in New Town, Kolkata. The gruesome crime was meticulously executed, with the body parts disposed of in several plastic packets scattered across the city, according to recent investigations by the West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
A significant breakthrough in the case came with the arrest of Jihad Hawladar, an illegal immigrant from Bangladesh living in Mumbai. CID sources revealed that Hawladar confessed to his involvement in the horrific crime. He detailed that the murder was orchestrated by Akhtaruzzaman, a US citizen of Bangladeshi origin. On Akhtaruzzaman's orders, Hawladar, along with four other Bangladeshi nationals, carried out the murder.
The investigation uncovered that Anar was smothered and killed in the New Town apartment. The details provided by Hawladar were chilling: after the murder, the group skinned the body, removed the flesh, and minced it to prevent identification. The remains were then packed into plastic bags, with the bones cut into small pieces. These packets were subsequently disposed of across various locations in Kolkata.
On Wednesday, Bangladesh Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan confirmed Anwarul Azim Anar's murder, announcing that three suspects had been arrested in connection with the crime. The Bengal CID found bloodstains inside the New Town apartment and recovered several plastic bags believed to have been used in the disposal of Anar’s body parts.
Circumstantial evidence points to the MP being strangled before his body was dismembered. The CID is now focused on locating all the body parts to provide closure to the case and understand the full extent of this gruesome crime.
The revelations have sparked outrage and demand for justice both in Bangladesh and India. Authorities continue to piece together the remaining elements of this disturbing puzzle, ensuring those responsible are held accountable.
