Bhopal, May 9, 2024: Bhupendra Jogi, the man who shot to fame through a viral social media reel, found himself in a harrowing ordeal as he was allegedly attacked by two masked assailants on Tuesday evening in Bhopal. The incident unfolded as Jogi was returning from his garments shop in the bustling New Market area around 9 pm.

According to a senior police officer, the assailants, armed with knives, launched their attack when Jogi was least expecting it. "A case has been registered under IPC section 307 (attempt to murder) at the Arera Hills police station, but so far there are no clues about the culprits. Jogi has not spoken about any rivalry or previous threats. We are scanning CCTV footage from the spot," the officer stated.
During the terrifying encounter, the assailants reportedly made two attempts to harm Jogi. Initially, he was ambushed from behind, and in the ensuing struggle to defend himself, he sustained severe injuries to his hand, resulting in deep wounds. Jogi underwent treatment and required 40 stitches to address his injuries.
Narrating the traumatic experience, Jogi revealed, "I had closed down my shop and was returning when two masked men attacked me with knives. They have not been arrested. I request everyone’s help in finding these people and helping me get justice."
Before this unfortunate incident, Bhupendra Jogi, a trader by profession, had gained widespread recognition on social media due to a viral meme featuring him asking "naam kya hai" ("what is your name"). The meme catapulted him into the limelight, and he even had the opportunity to meet former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan during the campaign trail of the assembly elections, where he recreated the now-iconic meme.
