In a tragic incident early Saturday morning, two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed and two others injured in a militant attack in Manipur's Naransena area, Bishnupur district. According to police reports, the attack occurred between midnight and 2:15 am when militants targeted a security outpost with gunfire and explosives.

The militants, reportedly firing from hilltop positions, launched an aggressive assault on the CRPF’s 128 Battalion deployed at the outpost. "The militants fired indiscriminately and hurled bombs, one of which exploded inside the outpost," a senior police officer disclosed to PTI. The prolonged engagement saw heavy exchanges of fire, amplifying the violence and chaos of the confrontation.

The deceased personnel were identified as Sub-Inspector N Sarkar and Head Constable Arup Saini. The injured, Inspector Jadav Das and Constable Aftab Hussain, sustained splinter injuries and were receiving medical treatment at the time of reporting.

The CRPF unit was stationed in Naransena to bolster the security measures for an India Reserve Battalion (IRBn) camp nearby. In response to the attack, law enforcement has initiated a comprehensive search operation to locate and apprehend the perpetrators behind this deadly assault.

This incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in the region, where sporadic attacks by armed groups continue to disrupt peace and cause loss of life. The authorities are investigating the attack further and have vowed to strengthen security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
